version 1.0
by Peter Gordon
GCopy is subject to paragraphs 1a, 1b, 2b, 2c, 3, and 4a of the AFD-Standard
copyright(TM).
1. What is GCopy?
GCopy (or Groovy Copy) is a replacement for the standard "copy" command,
as supplied with AmigaDOS. It works in much the same way, except that GCopy
displays a little "guage" along the top of the CLI window as it copies.
2. Why use GCopy?
GCopy looks nicer, and you can get an idea of how long you are going to wait
to copy a file. GCopy is fast, just look at these times:
Copied file size From To Time (Secs:100ths)
2020970 Harddisk Ram 02:18 (copy)
01:85 (gcopy)
15872000 Harddisk Harddisk 40:73 (copy)
32:29 (gcopy)
(Test setup: A1200, Blizzard 1230 MkIV with 8 megs fast, Western Digital
Caviar 640MB IDE harddisk)
3. How do I use GCopy?
In exactly the same way as copy. Just specify the source file(s) and the
destination directory. Note that in this version you cannot copy directories,
so there is no equivalent of:
copy work:tools ram: ALL
(This will appear in future)
4. How can I contact you?
E-Mail me at: the.moosuck@borghome.demon.co.uk
5. BUGS!!
* GCopy doesnt copy directories (YET!)
* GCopy is slightly slower than copy on small files
